About
Created by SnappleMan in April of 2009, Punchfest is a sort of hybridization of Dwelling Of Duels and Kwakfest. The name "Punchfest" was created by virt for what most of the users will be doing during these competitions: extreme amounts of punch-ins. Unlike Kwakfest, participants can make songs in any way they please, whether it be with live instruments, MIDI, tracker or whatever. The most common choice for Punchfest is with live instruments. Punchfest sessions last 6 hours as opposed to Kwakfest's normal 1 hour. Once the session is finished, all the tracks are listened to alphabetically by participant.
Up until Punchfest 5, at the end of the listening party, a mini-vote, like DoD, happens inside the IRC Punchfest channel. Participants got 3 votes and listeners get 2 votes for their favourite tracks. With Punchfest 5 and beyond, the voting has been stopped, and tracks are only for listening enjoyment.
